Islam: Religion, History, and Civilization

Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a Professor in Islamic Studies at George Washington University, discusses his book "Islam: Religion, History, and Civilization," published by HarperSanFrancisco. Professor Nasr talks about the history of Islam and how Islam has been presented by Western Orientalists. He argues that the historic cooperation and understanding that has existed between Muslims, Jews, and Christians are being threatened by extremists on all sides. Professor Nasr answered questions following his presentation. Barnes and Noble Booksellers hosted this author's presentation and it was broadcast on C-Span's Book TV on March 27, 2003. Greg Scheitler Manager in Community Relations at Barnes and Noble Booksellers introduces Mr. Nasr.
