This major study is an annotated bibliography of works on Islamic science from the eighteenth century to 1970. It adopts a holistic definition of “science,” encompassing not only the disciplines recognized by Western historians—such as mathematics and medicine—but also the occult sciences, philosophy, and Sufism, thereby reflecting the full breadth of Islamic conceptions of scientific inquiry.
